Drawing Tools

The tools are comparable with tools from the well-known illustration programs CorelDRAW and Illustrator.

  • Vector tools
  • Square, rectangle, circle, ellipse, star, polygon, line, curve, sector of a circle
  • Color fill, outlining pin, gradient fill tool
  • Ruler and dimensioning function
  • Node editing tool - used for manipulation of the Bezier nodes

Bitmap Tools

A bitmap is a pixel graphic, which is characterized by the following attributes: resolution in dpi and color depth (number of colors)

Bitmap tools: see illustration on the right

Supported bitmap formats: TIF, GIF, JPG, PCX, BMP

Layout Mode

In layout mode, page layouts can be designed and provided with placeholders for text and image information.

The placeholders (Container) can be filled with data from an Excel table or with images from any folder using the serialization function.

Serialization

The EuroCUT serialization is meaningful for the production of numerical orders, whereby both starting and end number and the incrementation can be defined individually. Each number can be provided with an alphanumeric prefix and/or suffix.

The input of numbers can be done manually and automatically from a CSV or EXCEL file. Apart from number sequences also arbitrary text rows (e. g. names) can be generated.

For each data record an action can be selected. Applicable actions are e. g.: Output on device, printing, exporting to the RIP

This function automates complex workflows and leads to substantial saving of time with jobs with same layout however individual contents.

Text Editor

The EuroCUT text editor is a text tool, which offers functions one knows from word processing and also fulfills more sophisticated typographic requirements. That includes "text on circle", extended character set and tabulators.

The following vector font formats are supported: OpenType (.OTF), TrueType (*.TTF), URW (*.BE) and Adobe type 1 (*.PFM, *.PFB).

Capital Height Font Handling

The EuroCUT text editor supports capital height font handling. This means that the height of a written word only depends on the capital letters. The advantage of this technology is that the height of different words remains comparable, no matter if the word contains lowercase letters with a descender like "g, y, j".

Plug-Ins

New plug-ins in OptiScout 8 (State 08/2022):

- AutoCAD 2017 / 2017LT - 2023 / 2023LT
- CorelDRAW X8, 2017 - 2022
- CorelDesigner X7, 2017 - 2020
- Adobe Illustrator CC 2017 - CC 2022
- Adobe InDesign CC 2017 - CC 2022

A Plug-in is a macro, which is integrated in the menu structure or toolbars of a host program, such as AutoCAD, Illustrator, InDesign, Inkscape or CorelDRAW. It works like a generic part of its host program. Plug-ins extend range of functions of the host program.

EuroCUT plug-ins export data from host program's desktop to the EuroCUT desktop simply by clicking on their respective toolbar icon.

Import Filters

EuroCUT has a wide variety of file import filters - vector and bitmap formats. That means nearly all data can be imported and given out.

Vector / CAD:

*.PDF, *.AI, *.EPS, *.WMF, *.EMF, *.DXF, *.IK, *.GTP, *.JTP, *.JOB, *.HPGL, *.CMX

Bitmap / Photo:

*.PCX, *.TIF, *.BMP, *.GIF, *.JPG, *.CMP

Node Editing

The node editing tools serve the individual editing and manipulation of vector objects. This tool is particularly useful before the output, when post-editing at the contours is required.

Particularly noteworthy is the possibility of horizontal and vertical alignment of nodes at a reference node, and the positioning of nodes using X / Y values or coordinates.

Rounding

The rounding is used to round the corners of objects e. g. fonts. Whose nodes can be rounded defining an appropriate radius?

The rounding can be done inwards or outwards. It can, as well, pertain to the entire object or only to a few selected nodes.

Welding

The welding function merges two or more vector objects together in a combination. Depending on the number and shape of the selected objects, you can choose from the following options: manual, automatic, trimming (cuts through objects with straight lines or curves), Open trimming, filling, by color, full surface, or screen printing.

Close Open Objects

While importing all open contours are closed, that lie in a pre-defined distance to each other. This option is necessary, if the objects have to be filled with a fill color. Only closed vector objects may be equipped with a filling.

Reorder Objects (Sorting Manually)

This function serves the optimization of the cutting paths. For output time it is critical in which order objects are handled. EuroCUT has the possibility to determine start (S) and end (E) of a vector and order of processing.

Simulation of Traverse Path

Traverse path can be simulated for each layer before output. Simulation speed can be adjusted continuously.

Aim is to shorten the traverse path. A base sorting after selection of main direction is done by EuroCUT itself. Improvements can be done at any time and validated with a new simulation.

Macro Player

The figure on the right side shows a macro with text info, options, parameters, and buttons. Clicking the Execute button runs the macro. The macro player provides that the macro can be controlled - start - pause - step (back and forth) - cancel.

Tracing Tool

From a pixel picture (bitmap) by means of tracing a vector graphic is produced. This vector graphic can be printed and/or plotted in contrast to the bitmap arbitrarily scaled and without quality losses.

Job Calculation

With help of the job calculation pre-calculations can be provided in simplest way. Particularly well this tool is suitable for the computation of arising material costs.

In the calculation dialog the user can switch between different modes, whereby graphics or text objects with similar material, same character height or same font family is summarized. For each of these options an appropriate list can be printed.

File Manager

An integrated file manager is responsible for file management. A preview shows the file content using a thumbnail. The list view offers overview for large file sets.

Any directory with subdirectories can be searched automatically. Individual search paths can be defined for direct access. A search box makes it easier searching by file name.

All important functions are accessible with a few clicks. This ensures a fast and comfortable operation.

Clipart Manager

The Clipart Manager permits fast access to frequently required graphic vector objects such as logos, cliparts, pictograms, …

The organization takes place via individual groups. Access to contents of the respective group is done by double clicks or "Drag & Drop".

Each graphic a short info text can be added.

Object Manager

The task of the Object Manager is to provide access to any object that is on the desktop with the help of a clear tree structure. This is important when the access is challenging because of the complexity of the design or overlapping objects and graphics. In addition to single objects, the structure of groups and combinations is also depicted.

Functions

- Clear tree structure
- Object preview with zoom function
- Navigation on the desktop and the working sheet
- Cross access on the layer is possible
- Definition of object names, -types and -attributes
- Colored Thumbnails (minimized object preview)

Object Properties

Independent from its properties, like contour and fill, each vector object can have multiple restrictions. So output can be restricted for the device which is used (printer, plotter, router, engraver, laser).

Furthermore all vector objects can have specific attributes, which are important for job processing.

Output

Figure on the right shows which output device, mode, tool, material and parameter set is used, while data is given out.

Plot Manager

Figure on the right shows which and how many devices are driven by EuroCUT. Preview shows which data was given out. A Job Queue for each device let user manage Job order and priority.

Plot Server

With several EuroCUT licenses you can use the Plot Server to start jobs over a network. This means that you can directly output your job data via LAN and the computer, where the output device is connected to (Plot Server).

Post Processor

EuroCUT post processor converts job data into a new format. Each machine can have then their special post processor, which converts the output data into a format readable for it.

Export Filter

EuroCUT has a wide variety of file export filters - vector and bitmap formats. That means nearly all data can be exported.

Vector / CAD:

*.EPS(OPI), *.EMF, *.DXF, *.PDF, *.HPGL, *.CMX

Bitmap / Photo:

*.PCX, *.TIF, *.BMP, *.JPG

Remote Maintenance / Support

Integrated in EuroCUT is the possibility to support and maintain the system via internet. The supporter is given a secure access on the user's computer system.

In addition to the online support you can of course ask questions regarding the software by phone or e-mail.

Text Module Tool

The text module tool named "PhraseWriter" permits editing and administration to any number of individual modules of text.

These text modules can be inserted via click to the EuroCUT Text Editor or directly to the working area.

Changes and errors excepted.
